Self-Portraits

...well, I am the only face that will pose for myself for hours on end...

 

Here's a painting from last year.  Early explorations into 'pattern' as a feature that I have come to love.  (You'll see the finished piece as the blog continues.)

 

 

This next piece was started several years ago in colored pencil, and I am now finishing it.  I love the ambiguous nature of the content juxtaposed next to the precision of the pencil lines.

 

...and my most recent attempt at the self-portrait in oils.  My goal with this painting was to use big brushes (6 or larger), palette knives, and saturated colors.  Turned out to be a very intense painting!
